Screening Room: Daniel Radcliffe Channels Hipster Harry Potter On Set as Allen Ginsberg
Trailer of the Week
Sound of my Voice - April 27, 2012The most chilling release at Sundance last year was an independent film called Sound of my Voice. The trailer was finally released this week and you can see why the movie received such a strong reaction. The story follows two investigative journalists as they infiltrate a secretive cult led by a mysterious woman who claims to be from the future. Sounds insane right? Well, one look into the cold eyes of Maggie (played by Brit Marling) and you'll be a believer too. Fox Searchlight bought the rights last year and decided to hold the film until 2012 (probably due to the release of another film based in the cult world - Martha Marcy May Marlene). The film looks like an auspicious debut for co-writer/director Zal Batmanglij.

- Deadline reported this week on Paramount Pictures' plans to team Megan Fox and Zoe Saldana in a heist film called Swindle. There are few details on the plot, but this isn't going to be The Manchurian Candidate. The movie will likely involve a generic story that plays second-fiddle to its two gorgeous stars. Apparantly, the impetus for the project came from Fox and Saldana's desire to do a movie together. Fox is currently on the big screen in Friends with Kids and has two more comedies coming out: The Dictator and This is Forty, Judd Apatow's latest.
- Jake Gyllenhaal has a new project in the works. Slashfilm has the details on An Enemy, about a history teacher who discovers he has a doppelganger and sets out to find him. The script will be adapted from Jose Saramago's novel, The Double.
No, that's not a ! hipster version of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe is actually in costume as the beat poet Allen Ginsberg on the set of Kill Your Darlings, due out next year. The film follows the lives of many of the famous personas in Greenwich Village during the '40s: Edie Parker (Elizabeth Olsen), William Burroughs (Ben Foster), David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall), and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston).
David Fincher's sharp adaptation of the 2005 best-seller by Stieg Larsson comes to blu-ray today. Fincher does not stray far from the original Swedish film of 2009 starring Noomi Rapace. Instead he offers a kind of meta-version of the story, upping the ante with more expensive production and taking a few more chances with his nuevo heroine, Lisbeth Salander (played by Oscar nominee Rooney Mara). Fincher's verson also remains truer to the novel than the Swedish film, offering us a mo! re in-de pth glimpse of Salander and keeping the novel's bittersweet ending.

Oscar Watch 2013First look at Gordon-Levitt in Looper
JGL in Looper One of the highest anticipated films in recent fanboy history is Rian Johnson's time-travel film, Looper. The movie stars Bruce Willis as a futuristic hit man (called "loopers) sent back in time to carry out a hit on a mark. However, the script flips when Willis' character finds the mark is himself as a younger man (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt).
This week a teaser trailer for Looper premiered at WonderCon, as well as some shots of Levitt on the set. Fans are expecting a full-length trailer for the film very soon as the film is set for a September 28 release date.
Johnson gained a cult following after his feature debut, Brick, debuted in 2005. Brick won the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at Sundance in '05 and the film has become a neo-noir classic. It also helped to launch the big-screen career of Levitt,
who has become one of Hollyw! ood's fa stest-rising leading men. Fans of Brick have been waiting for Johnson to release another film on the same creative level and everyone's hoping Looper is it. With Chrisopher Nolan advancing the sci-fi genre with Inception in 2010, fans everywhere are hoping Looper is the next big thing in the genre. A bigger question is will Looper garner the critical reception Brick did. Considering the pedigree of the director and its stars, not to mention the potentially fantastic plotline, Looper could be the Inception of 2012, a sci-fi film that breaks through the ceiling and reaches a much wider audience

- Looper may very well crack the top 10 at some point, but we're waiting to see the trailer first ... One look at Hugh Jackman on the Les Miserables set should tell you everything you need to know about the film. Helena Bonham Carter will also appear in Les Miserables as well as Mike Newell's Great Expectations this year. Carter's timeless appeal has always been a hit in classic l! iteratur e adaptions on the big screen. She has a long history of these projects: A Room with a View, Howard's End, Frankenstein, not to mention Fight Club, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland.
