Daniel Radcliffe Turns 23 and Goes from 'Harry Potter' to 'Horns'

Butterbeers all around - Daniel Radcliffe turned 23 yesterday.

What's more, the Gryffindor alum has been keeping more than busy since the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," closing the final book on the supernatural child who spent ten years dealing with death threats from a parasitic snake-man with gnarly fingernails and seemingly no access to shoes.

That being said, we all remember when the boy wizard suddenly morphed into a man who really, really loved horses in Peter Shaffer's West End revival of "Equus." And sure, he took a risk - a nude, controversial risk - but its those unconventional roles that can make a great actor an awesome one.

And he's certainly been awesome, from a light-hearted, bow-tied turn on Broadway in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," to scaring us silly in creepy sleeper hit "The Woman in Black," to showing some serious comedic chops as one-time host of "Saturday Night Live."

He even revealed he has quite the talented tongue. Not parsel, just regular.

If that wasn't enough to send fans skyrocketing with excitement, he's gone all berets and black turtlenecks in the role of Beat Generation poet Allen Ginsberg for the relatively low-budget movie "Kill Your Darlings." He'll follow that up with a leading role in a "When Harry Met Sally"-style rom-com called "The F Word."

The "F" stands for "friend," and will have Radcliffe trying to figure out if boys and girls can ever just be friends - full stop. Here's thinking his sex symbol status hits an all-time high after that wraps. Just saying.

Coattailing the hot romedy news is that Radcliffe has another supernatural film in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he just signed on to star in "Horns," a big screen! adaptation of Joe Hill's best-selling novel of the same title. In it, Radcliffe will play Ig Perrish, a man under investigation for the rape and brutal murder of his girlfriend. The whole thing involves growing actual horns that force people to confess their sins a la veritaserum.

And, his genre spree doesn't stop there either.

Radcliffe and Jon Hamm have been tapped to play the same character - at different ages - for upcoming British miniseries "A Young Doctor's Notebook." The series is based on a Russian memoir, which means someone is going to have to learn a new accent. Foxy.

Radcliffe is also the latest A-lister to join Jude Law and Judi Dench in a new London-based theatre troupe called the Michael Grandage Company. A five-play, 15-month season will kick off in December, and tickets will cost just 10 (about $16) in hopes of attracting a diverse audience.

Sounds like Radcliffe's next 365 days are going to be pure magic. Well, you know.

Now if he would just join Twitter.
