Russia has admitted to having "trillions of carats" of impact diamonds in an asteroid crater. They've known about them for decades, but didn't develop it so they could reap the benefits of high prices on their other diamond holdings. Impact diamonds are especially valuable as they are twice as hard as normal diamonds, making them not only spectacularly beautiful but perfect for many scientific uses.
