Daniel Radcliffe's 'Kill Your Darlings' Director Taught Him The Ways Of Gay Love
'Kill Your Darlings' director John Krokidas has admitted that he had to teach his star Daniel Radcliffe the ways of gay love for his latest role as Allen Ginsberg in the movie.
The film maker told the AP: "Radcliffe simply asked, 'John, you're gay. How does this work?' I'm not kidding. And so perhaps there was a little dry run-through... with me and the director of photography Reed Morano. I might have done it on purpose to make everyone laugh, too, but I also wanted to make sure that we got it right."
He added: "Other films that have depicted certain moments of sexuality like this, it doesn't happen that way. And at least for cinematic history, I wanted to get that moment right. But Dan watched, observed, found his own connection like he did any other scene and dove right into it."
John and Dan aren't the only ones getting hot and bothered over the film though, as it has generated a lot of buzz at this year's Sundance Film Festival, not all of it centring on Dan's love scene.
Those in the movie biz obviously think its a winner as the movie, based around the 'Beat Generation' of writers and poets and how a murder brought them together, has been snapped up by Sony Pictures Classics at the festival.
According to EW the statement read: This is an amazing movie, a great American drama, thriller, and perfect evocation of New York in the 1940s as you have never seen on screen before, adding: With an ensemble cast that is truly mind-blowing led by Daniel Radcliffe in a profoundly moving performance as Allen Ginsberg, we are witnessing the birth of a major new American filmmaker [Krokidas].
