WATCH: Daniel Radcliffe: Gay Sex Scenes Not 'Shocking'
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe doesnt understand why anyone is shocked over his gay sex scenes in the upcoming film Kill Your Darlings, in which he plays poet Allen Ginsberg.
Its interesting that its deemed shocking, he told MTV News in an interview Saturday, the day after the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. For me, theres something very strange about that because we see straight sex scenes all the time. Weve seen gay sex scenes before. I dont know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally un-shocking.
Radcliffe, the erstwhile Harry Potter and an LGBT rights advocate, also noted that he appeared on Broadway in Equus, playing a young man who mutilates horses, a role that called for him to be nude onstage. What weirded me out the most last night was people were asking me all these questions about the gay sex scenes, Radcliffe said. I was like, You know I did Equus? Some people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject, which is so strange.
