The pair will play the same doctor, with Radcliffe portraying the man's younger self, while Hamm will appear in his later years, according to The Sun.

Hamm will also narrate the four-part series while also interacting with Radcliffe's younger self.

"This is a great role for Daniel and he's pretty excited about the prospect of working with Jon," a source is quoted as saying.

"He's a big Mad Men fan and feels he can learn a lot from Don. But Jon knows all about Daniel's qualities, too, so he'll also be doing some learning."

The series will reportedly contain dark and humourous elements as the doctor struggles with his own self belief.

Radcliffe began filming Beat Generation project Kill Y! our Darl ings in New York last month.
