Booze, nudity, excess: At 23 Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe looks back on a (partly) misspent youth - and acting ...

Image
'I've got to start," says Daniel Radcliffe, "by saying my mum sent me a column you wrote." For a moment, I'm thrown. I've got half an hour to interview one of the most famous young men in the world, which is less time than I've ever been given to interview anyone, and he's talking about my work? The column, it turns out, was about Israel and Palestine, and mentioned a TV series called The Promise , which his mother cast. The column, from what he's saying, was a masterpiece. And Daniel Radcliffe is clearly a very astute young man. I've already been impressed by his manners. He's polite to the photographer, polite to the PR, polite to the various people milling around the hotel suite who are all there, it's clear, because of him. He's polite as the photographer snaps, and asks him to look this way, and that way, and out of the window, and polite as the photographer leaves. And now that we're on our own, on a sofa, in a Soho ...

Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe on playing each other in upcoming miniseries VIDEO

Are Harry Potter and Don Draper two great tastes that taste great together? Well find out after the premiere of A Young Doctors Notebook , a British miniseries that features Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe playing the titular doctor at different points in his life. Yes, the doctor is British; yes, that does mean Hamm will be speaking in an accent; yes, I understand if you need to go get your smelling salts. Back? For your delicate constitutions sake, you may be relieved to know that we dont hear British Hamm in this behind-the-scenes video. We do, however, get to see both stars enthusing about the project, as well as a glimpse at its darkly comic situations including Radcliffe nonchalantly saying right then! after sawing off a corpses leg and donning a dead doctors apron, then being told that the deceased was a lot taller than you. All told, A Young Doctors Notebook looks pretty charming but considering its stars, how could it not be? Take a look at the miniseries below, courtesy of T...

Daniel Radcliffe is delighted when people know his real name.

He explained: "I'd be lying if I said I didn't get Harry Potter at all. Of course I do. But you know what? I'd say the split is now rather encouragingly in favour of Daniel Radcliffe, which is rather lovely. "I walked past two girls on a bench the other day, and I heard them both go, 'Oh my god, it's Daniel Radcliffe', and every time that happens I think, 'Yesss!' Not because they recognise me, because they use my name." The humble star also revealed he hates being invited to showbiz events because he finds them incredibly awkward and, despite having bared all performing naked on stage in 'Equus' in 2007, he still gets nervous when he has to make small talk in a room full of people. Daniel confessed to Seven magazine: "You can still be self-conscious in my position. And shy. Shyness displays it differently in me. I think it's more an awkwardness. Like when I go to those events, like the Baftas, or like I was invited to thi...

Daniel Radcliffe glad about being recognised as himself

Image
Los Angeles, Nov 27 (IANS) Actor Daniel Radcliffe is glad that he is now recognised by his own identity rather than his lead role in film "Harry Potter". The British actor is adamant he hates exploiting his fame to get special privileges but admits it comes in useful when he wants to indulge his nicotine habit in public buildings. He tells U.K. magazine Seven, "They let me do it here so that I don't have to stand outside. There will be photographers, not for me, but just because they hang around smart hotels... It's pretty much the only thing I exploit my position for, to be allowed to smoke inside."

Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe: 'I Love Being Recognised'

wenn While Daniel Radcliffe has admitted he's struggled with being one of the biggest child stars ever, it seems he's not completely adverse to being famous, but only as himself, not his wizarding alter-ego 'Harry Potter'. It seems the actor has struggled to leave the Potter label behind and confessed in a recent interview, he loves it when he's recognised as Dan rather than Harry. He told Seven magazine: ''I'd be lying if I said I didn't get Harry Potter at all. Of course I do. But you know what? I'd say the split is now rather encouragingly in favour of Daniel Radcliffe, which is rather lovely. Jack Whitehall Wanted To Swipe Daniel Radcliffe's 'Harry Potter' Role

Image
Daniel Deme/WENN If comic and actor Jack Whitehall had got his way Harry Potter could have been a very different character on the screen from the wizard that Daniel Radcliffe became. That's because Whitehall, star of student comedy Fresh Meat , auditioned for the role of the boy wizard when a child actor. Before the franchise started in 2001 with 'The Philosopher's Stone' children from around the country tried out for roles, with Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Radcliffe winning the coveted roles of Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Harry himself. Sadly though for those who wanted to see a more wisecracking Harry, the actor didn't make it past the first audition. He told Shortlist: "I tried out for (the role of) Harry Potter... but I didn't get past the first audition. I had read those books and I was a big fan." Jack didn't let his rejection affect him though, as the comic admitted that he'd tried to get a role in another magical franchise, try...

First trailer for new British series co-starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm

The show will debut on December 6 on the British network, and will span four episodes set in a small Russian village at the dawn of the Russian revolution. Radcliffe and Hamm will portray the same character at two different stages of his life, a doctor who recalls his first job in the Russian countryside. The narration is voiced by Hamm's character, who recalls his early years trying to embrace his medical career treating the superstitious locals. The comedy-drama series is based on the memoirs of Ukrainian-born Soviet author and doctor Mikhal Bulgakov, A Young Doctor's Notebook , published posthumously in 1975 (the different stories in the book had previously been published separately in the 1920s). First trailer for Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm's Young Doctor's Notebook

Image
The one-minute trailer sees Radcliffe take on the role of a younger version of Hamm's character, Dr Vladimir Bomgard in the new show based on the short series of Mikhail Bulgakov. The increasingly familiar bath scene between the pair - which has taken on something of a cult status before A Young Doctor's Notebook has even aired - also features in the trailer. Radcliffe has previously said of the scene: 'It was great, because you know you are the envy of every woman ever.' The already-popular bath scene is featured in the trailer (Picture: Sky) A Young Doctor's Notebook tells Bulgakov's semi-autobiographical story of a doctor working in a small Russian village in 1917, shortly before the revolution kicked into gear. Claiming to be a fan of the source material, Radcliffe recently said of the project: 'I have been an obsessive Bulgakov reader for a couple of years now so when the opportunity to become involved in this project came up, I could barely contain my ...

In the British miniseries, Radcliffe and Hamm play younger and older versions of the same character. The four-part Sky Arts series, based on a Mikhail Bulgakov short story, tells of a doctor who comes to a rural village in the middle of the Russian Revolution, Perez Hilton reported. It seems a little strange that Mad Mens Hamm and Harry Potters Radcliffe are playing the same character since Hamm is 6 foot and Radcliffe is 5-foot-5, but it seems they will be able to pull it off considering Radcliffe plays a younger version of the character. The trailer opens with the actors awkwardly sitting in a b! athtub together. After a few uncomfortable moments, the younger character asks for the soap. The clip then cuts to Daniel Radcli...

A Young Doctors Notebook Trailer: Jon Hamm Is Daniel Radcliffe, Vaguely British

Would you buy Daniel Radcliffe as a young Jon Hamm? is the question Vulture first asked when both actors signed up for A Young Doctor's Notebook . Perhaps the question we should have asked was: Would you buy Jon Hamm with a British accent? Admittedly, Hamm does not speak much in this first trailer for the four-part British mini-series; Radcliffe will apparently do enough bumbling for the both of them. But when Don Draper does go to that accented place, he sounds just like Don Draper. Okay, fine, he sounds like Don Draper doing a halfhearted imitation of Lane Pryce. (R.I.P.) The chemistry seems to be working, though (at least in the bathtub; Bravo to that idea).

Daniel Radcliffe's Young Doctor's Notebook 1st footage revealed

Image
November 12, 2012 - 16:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - First footage of "A Young Doctor's Notebook" has been made available for viewing pleasure through a promo video. In it, Daniel Radcliffe's fans can see the actor in his portrayal of a character which is a far cry from his "Harry Potter" persona, AceShowbiz said. Glimpses of dark humor are seen everywhere in the snippet as the British star's character has awkward encounters with his elder self, played by "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm. Additionally, the video teases the young doctor's clumsy way in handling his patients. Based on semi-autobiographical short stories by Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov, the upcoming miniseries focuses on a post-WWI doctor, whom Bulgakov based upon himself, working as a medic in a small Russian village. He struggles to deal with both his patients and his own inner demons, and his contemporary young self frequently converses with his elder self. The four-part comedy dram...

Daniel Radcliffe: Im a geek, Im obsessed with cricket. What a disappointment I must be to fans who meet me

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, 23, is desperate not to become another child actor who fails to make it in Hollywood as an adult. I really want to prove all the people wrong who assumed when I got the part that we wouldnt ever carry on beyond Potter, he said, citing his performances in Equus, My Boy Jack, December Boys and Woman In Black as the first steps in what is going to be a very long process. In an interview for a documentary aired on Sky Movies on Friday, Radcliffe said: If I can make it out the other side of this, and forge a career for myself for the next, however long, then any other child actor who comes after me will hopefully not have to deal with all those irritating questions because if me and Rupert [Grint] and Emma [Watson] can do it after the most successful franchise ever, then that puts the argument [about failed child actors] to bed.
