Daniel Radcliffes New Film Breaks Box Office Record

Image
Congrats to Daniel Radcliffe and his latest film Woman in Black, the scary movie has just been named as the most successful British horror film since records began! The movie sat at the number one spot at the UK box office for three weeks when it was released earlier this month and took over 14.5million across the country. This makes it the highest grossing horror shot in the UK of all time, beating the likes of 28 Days Later and classics like Dracula. The news must be welcome for Daniel who was hoping the horror would help him break away from his iconic Harry Potter role . Its also good news for Hammer, the production company behind the film. After producing a series of hugely successful horror films from the 1930s until the 80s Hammer saw its fortunes fall until it returned to features in 2010. Simon Oakes, the President of the company has promised a string of other UK shot films over the coming year. PHOTOS: Daniel Radcliffe at 'The Woman in Black' premiere Ashley Cole F...

Nick Jonas on succeeding 'How to Succeed' star Daniel Radcliffe, music and being on 'Smash'

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Attention, young people milling about outside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre: Nick Jonas will not be popping out to shake your hand after matinees of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." He's been asked to stay inside. Why? He will literally stop traffic. "I would love to say hello to them, but they've advised me for traffic purposes and other reasons that it's best not to go out," says the youngest of the three heartthrob Jonas Brothers singer-songwriting siblings in his dressing room. "It could get interesting." Downstairs and outside on 45th Street, scores of tweens and teens wait in vain for Jonas to emerge after his afternoon show. But it's a Wednesday one of two matinee days and all he can do is shower, sip coffee and check messages on his phone. Michael Urie, the former "Ugly Betty" actor who stars alongside Jonas in the musical, says that when he steps outside the theatre, the crowd asks two qu...

Radcliffes new box office success

Daniel Radcliffes new flick The Woman In Black has become the UKs highest grossing British horror film of the past 20 years. The Hammer film, in which the Harry Potter star plays a grieving widower who travels to a remote village and stumbles upon an unforgiving ghost, has now raked in more cash than many Hollywood productions shot in the UK with British talent. The movie scored a hat-trick at the top of the UK box office, holding the number one slot in the UK for the last three weeks and taking in 14.6 million. It has also taken more than 50 million dollars at US cinemas. Simon Oakes of Hammer said: The record-breaking success of The Woman In Black is an important achievement that affirms the re-birth of Hammer. We are continuing to develop exciting and intelligent genre films this year such as The Quiet Ones and Gaslight, both of which will shoot in the UK. Next month sees Daniel start work on the next phase of his post-Potter career, playing the American poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill ...

Relax Potter! I will be returning as your sidekick! In a press release, president of production for Warner Bros, Jeff Robinov, said, "It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified, so we are thrilled and proud that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their characters in the final two films." Earlier this month, rumours were circulating that Emma, who plays the uptight Hermione Granger, wasn't keen to sign for the last two movies. Was that...

Daniel Radcliffe Urges Bullied Youngsters to Seek Help

February 25, 2012 12:06:00 PM UTC Daniel Radcliffe has continued his support of the gay community by starring in a new anti-bullying public service announcement. The Harry Potter star has long been dedicated to raising awareness of the Trevor Project, a non-profit group dedicated to crisis support for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youngsters, and he was awarded the organisation's Hero Award in New York in 2011 after two years as an unofficial spokesperson. The actor has now appeared in a new TV campaign, which aired on Tuesday in the U.S., to urge young people to seek help if they're suffering at the hands of bullies. In the announcement, Radcliffe says, "I'm Daniel Radcliffe, and I believe that reaching out for help is the bravest thing a person can do. If you are struggling and need support, call the Trevor Lifeline... It's free and confidential, and trained counsellors are there to listen 24/7 without judgment."

Daniel Radcliffe Smolders In 'Bullett Magazine'

Image
Daniel Radcliffe featured in BULLETT Volume VI, "The Obsessed" Issue on newsstands February 28, 2012. Photo: Mariano Vivanco/BULLETT Media Holy transformations! The Daniel Radcliffe depicted in this Bullett Magazine cover story is decidedly NOT the bespectacled wizardboy the world was first introduced to by Warner Bros. in the Harry Potter film series. He's also not the bow-tie clad window cleaner-turned-businessman in How to Succeed on Broadway either. Bullett has portrayed Radcliffe as the burgeoning heartthrob, a role he carries SO so well and one we, frankly, are dying to see him in more. I mean, just look at the upward looking smoldering gaze. That effortless swoop of hair perched above a starched collar, pop of scarlett, and piercing blue eyes. The tasteful hint of facial scruff. YOWZAAAA, Mama like. And this thing only gets BETTER as you flip through the pages. Daniel Radcliffe featured in BULLETT Volume VI, "The Obsessed" Issue on newsstands Februa...

The 22-year-old actor - who gave up drinking alcohol in August 2010 - insists he is a "dull" person and has never had fun when he has visited late-night music bars. He said: "I think [paparazzi] know I'm quite dull so they don't really follow me around. "I don't do much, I go to work, I do my job, I come home and then I sleep. "There's really nothing that I do in between. "I think I've been to three clubs in my life which were awful nights. "It was just terrible, I don't need to go into it. I don't give them as much to be interested in." >> More entertainment news Daniel - who spent several months last year appearing on Broadway in 'How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' - believes he is a better person for giving up alcohol and says sobriety has given him more opportunities to try new things. Daniel Radcliffe Speaks To LBGT Teens In New Trevor Project PSA

The Trevor Project also endeavors to foster safe and inclusive environments in homes and schools. Radcliffe's latest work with the organization is a 30-second PSA that aired Tuesday night during "Glee" and MTV News now has exclusively online. In the spot, Radcliffe addresses the very i...

Daniel Radcliffe gets tobacco delivery

Daniel Radcliffe gets tobacco sent to him from England. The 22-year-old actor is currently living in New York and though he knows smoking is bad for him, he can't resist his favourite hand-rolled cigarettes, but has Golden Virginia tobacco sent out to him because he hates the US products. He said: 'I have to ship this in from home because you can't get good rolling tobacco here. It's all dry and c--py like you've emptied out a cigarette. 'I shouldn't really smoke. It's not great when you have to sing, obviously. At least with roll-ups you can keep tabs on what you put in, so I don't have to have a big fat cigarette every time. But that's just the way addicts rationalise - 'Oh this is much better for me.' ' Tobacco isn't the only thing about America which Daniel dislikes; he also took a swipe at the 'pretentious' pronunciation used in the US. Daniel Radcliffe is proud of sex symbol status

Daniel Radcliffe is "honoured" to be a sex symbol. The 22-year-old actor - who is currently dating Rosie Coker - is always surprised to be told by fans that he is the object of their lust but he always feels that they are attracted to him. He said: "I got told the other day I had a really nice ass. I didn't know that. I don't mind it. "It's fine if people want to make me the subject of their sexual fantasies - good luck to them, fantastic, I'm honoured to be in their dreams. "Growing up I never thought that would be the case so it's very flattering and not something to object to at all." Rosie has previously questioned the 'Harry Potter' star about having gay friends that are attracted to him, but he admits he rarely thinks about it. In an interview with Attitude magazine, he said: "The other day my girlfriend Rosie asked me, 'Do you find it weird that some of your gay mates think about you sexually?' "I've...

Daniel Radcliffe - Daniel Radcliffe Doesn't Mind Tax Bills

Daniel Radcliffe has no problem with paying a high rate of tax to subsidise those on low incomes. Daniel Radcliffe is happy to pay more tax. The 'Woman in Black' actor - who is thought to be worth around 30 million - would gladly pay a higher rate of tax because he believes it creates a fairer society. He said: "I think if you make a lot more money than most people - like I do - you should pay more tax and subsidise people who work just as hard as you, but don't earn as much." Tax is not the only political issue Daniel - who is dating production assistant Rosie Coker - feels compelled to comment on, as he also believes gay marriage should be a right for people across the world. He told Attitude magazine: "The ultimate reason gay marriage should be legalised everywhere is because, as a kid, you look to your mum and dad and they're married; then you look at the gay couple who've been together for the same amount of time, but because they're not marr...

Daniel Radcliffe: Russian Rooftop!

Daniel Radcliffe poses for portraits during The Woman in Black photocall on the roof of Ritz hotel on Thursday afternoon (February 16) in Moscow, Russia. The 22-year-old actor recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show where he discussed meeting girlfriend Rosie s parents and playing a parent himself. It is slightly bizarre, Daniel shared of being a dad on screen: When I got the script I did think it would be a bit of a leap for everyone to see me as a dad when they had seen me in a schoolboy outfit for the best part of 10 years. Daniel also revealed of meeting Rosies mom and dad, I just met my girlfriends parents for the first time, but we are a little way off calling them my in-laws. It was a uniquely nerve-wracking experience. She wasnt there and I took them out for lunch. It was lovely but at the end of it I did have to ask, Have I passed? We are still going out so I guess it was all okay. Daniel s appearance airs tonight on BBC. 10+ pics inside Like Just Jared Jr. on FB

Daniel Radcliffe Fuels Marriage Rumours

Image
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has added to the speculation that he is going to make an honest woman out of his girlfriend after revealing that he's met her parents. The rumours of an impending proposal came after a friend of the actor's told The Sun last year: "They're crazy about each other. Dan wants to marry her." Appearing on The Graham Norton Show , the 22-year-old actor, who has previously said that he's "very much in love" with girlfriend Rosie Coker, told the Irish host that meeting Rosie's parents was "nerve wracking": "I just met my girlfriends parents for the first time, but we are a little way off calling them my in-laws. Daniel Radcliffe's folk-us on fear

But the biggest fright didn't occur on set it was meeting his girlfriend's folks for the first time. The actor recently took his missus Rosie Coker's parents to lunch. Speaking on tonight's Graham Norton Show, he reveals: "It was a uniquely nerve-wracking experience. She wasn't there. It was lovely but at the end of it I did have to ask, 'Have I passed?' "We are still going out so I guess it was all OK." He must have got on pretty well with her old man he's already borrowing his jumpers.

Radcliffes Distancing From Pottermania

"The Woman in Black" (95 min, Rated PG-13 for thematic material, violence and disturbing images). Rating: 6 I'm a little late writing this review, but it seems there's been more emphasis placed on Daniel Radcliffe's - ex-Harry Potter - performance than reviewing the assets of the film. I can see that, though, because his iconic persona as Potter is soooo identified with him...the real life actor is faced with a uphill climb to separate himself from Harry. But I give Daniel Radcliffe a "B" for effort in trying to establish himself as a working actor - on stage as well. As much as we've seen Emma Watson (Hermione) recently featured in "My Week With Marilyn" - and she's good in it - one has to wonder if any of the Potter threesome will ever shed that iconic stigma. It speaks volumes that Radcliffe (and Watson) has released a film so soon after the last Potter film - and in "The Woman in Black", Radcliffe is "this close"...

Of course, how Radcliffe ever figured out he could do that in the first place is a mystery, but it's pretty, er, magical nonetheless. PHOTOS: The Best Harry Potter Movie Moments Ever!

Daniel Radcliffe Is Doing Something Different

MB: JANET SUSAN NEPALES I dont like having any downtime, revealed Daniel Radcliffe when we interviewed him recently for his latest movie, The Woman in Black. I like working. A few weeks off to recharge is great but I always want to have something to go onto and something to keep me busy because otherwise I would go mad, admitted the former wizard boy who has given up his magic stick for Broadway and more serious acting gigs. Asked if he talked to Fil-Am Darren Criss who took over his role as J. Pierrepont Finch in the hit Broadway musical revival, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Daniel said he did. I told him to just have fun, he revealed. Darren does not really need any advice but I told him to attack it with a lot of energy. Darren, who took over the Broadway role for three weeks early this year before going back to his Glee role, is also known among the Harry Potter fans as the creator-composer of A Very Potter Musical, a musical that features the characters in the...
