Daniel Radcliffe - Daniel Radcliffe's Destructive Drinking
Daniel Radcliffe stopped drinking because it was ''very, very destructive'' and is glad he realised he had support to help him quit alcohol.
Daniel Radcliffe gave up drinking because it became "very, very destructive".
The 'Harry Potter' actor - who hasn't touched alcohol since August 2010 - admitted he was "desperately trying" to convince himself that he was a party animal when he hit the bottle.
He explained: "I stopped drinking because it was becoming very, very destructive to me. I was trying to live up to what I thought and 18/19 years old should be doing, in the pursuit of fun.
"Desperately trying to convince myself I was a party animal who loved bringing chaos down on myself, and I did that for . probably three years."
However, the 22-year-old star explained he experienced a moment of clarity following a drink-induced "blackout", which made him realise it was time to give up alcohol altogether.
Daniel added: "I was doing it alone, every day, and had been for quite some time. It was absolutely a problem.
"I woke up, after eight hours of, you know, blackout, not knowing how I'd got home, and just went, 'I think I may have something to deal with here'. And maybe all those people who were telling me I did were right. And I did.
"And with a lot of help from a lot of friends . I haven't had a drink since August 2010."
