Daniel Radcliffe Turns 23 and Goes from 'Harry Potter' to 'Horns'

Butterbeers all around - Daniel Radcliffe turned 23 yesterday. What's more, the Gryffindor alum has been keeping more than busy since the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," closing the final book on the supernatural child who spent ten years dealing with death threats from a parasitic snake-man with gnarly fingernails and seemingly no access to shoes. That being said, we all remember when the boy wizard suddenly morphed into a man who really, really loved horses in Peter Shaffer's West End revival of "Equus." And sure, he took a risk - a nude, controversial risk - but its those unconventional roles that can make a great actor an awesome one. And he's certainly been awesome, from a light-hearted, bow-tied turn on Broadway in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," to scaring us silly in creepy sleeper hit "The Woman in Black," to showing some serious comedic chops as one-time host of "Saturday ...

Radcliffe is partly South African

2012-07-22 15:41 by Nadia Neophytou, City Press Johannesburg - Hes lived most of the past decade in the public eye but few people know young British actor Daniel Radcliffe can claim some South African ties. The 22-year-old, whose new movie The Woman in Black opened in South Africa this weekend, describes himself as a complete mutt. I have South African, Polish, Russian, Jewish and Northern Irish Protestant in me. Radcliffes maternal grandfather was South African, and his own mother was born here although her story is not something hes keen to tell in detail. He wasnt the most pleasant man in the world. Daniel Radcliffe Gets Romantic

Image
By Richard Lawson | The Atlantic Wire 17 mins ago Today in showbiz: Harry Potter tries out a new genre, Juliette Lewis gets a big break again, and Andrew Stanton receives his post- John Carter sentence. RELATED: Katie Holmes Hit by Garbage Truck Daniel Radcliffe may have once wooed Ginny Weasely, but that was amid lots of wizard battles and Snape attacks and whatnot, so he barely had any time to be romantic. But now he does. He's just been cast in an indie romantic comedy called The F Word , which allll about f*ckin'. Ha, no, no, it's about friendship . Meaning, Radcliffe gets put in the ol' "friend zone" by Zoe Kazan. (Better than being put in the communist zone by Elia Kazan.) So can Radcliffe pull off romantic comedy ? He basically did in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, so why not in some raggedy little indie movie? Have at it, Danny boy. Just don't go do a movie with Katherine Heigl next if this works out. [ Varie...

WENN.com Daniel Radcliffe, in a bid to shake off his Harry Potter spectacles, has lined up a juicy new chapter in his film career; it's time for the romantic comedy. Daniel Radcliffe, who recently chilled us to our bones in horror film 'The Woman In Black', is joining Zoe Kazan for indie rom-com 'The F Word', which is all about finding yourself stuck in that oh-so-painful Friend Zone. The story, based on the play 'Toothpaste And Cigars', follows Wallace (Radcliffe) and Chantry (Kazan), a pair of twentysomethings who meet at a party and REALLY hit it off. We're talking flirtatious banter, accidental arm brushes... the works. BUT, sadly for Wallace, Chantry has a long-term boyfriend - so the pair decide to remain "just friends". We've all been there Daniel! The film will hopefully begin production in August, with the majority of shooting taking place in Toronto. And we couldn't be more excited to see Daniel Radcliffe show off his cute and...

Image
No, you don't have to up your dose of anti-psychotics that sound you hear actually is angels singing out in celebration. You see, Variety reports that Daniel Radcliffe , the wonderful Harry Potter star for whom we have all waited eagerly to enter new genres of film, is taking on his first romantic comedy: the provocatively titled The F Word . To add to the glory, he's got quite an adept partner in crime: Zoe Kazan , writer and star of the recent romantic foray Ruby Sparks . The F Word comes from director Michael Dowse , whose more recent ventures include Goon and Take Me Home Tonight . The story will feature Radcliffe as a nice guy who attempts to pioneer the idea of a successful platonic friendship between a man and a woman, despite his growing affection for her (a situation made worse by the fact that she already has a boyfriend). The project seems in keeping with a load of romantic comedy traditions, but the real strength of films in this genre is the charm of their sta...

Daniel Radcliffe's Woman in Black most complained-about film of 2012

Daniel Radcliffe went straight from playing Harry Potter to The Woman in Black , an intense period ghost story that wound up a major box office success for the legendary Hammer Film Productions. But while the film earned both money and a fair amount of critical acclaim, it also garnered more complaints than any other film so far this year. But what for? Since its release, the film has been reported to the British Board of Film Classification (the UK's film ratings group) 120 times by parents and other adults who found it "too scary" for kids. See, the film is rated 12A in the UK, the same rating that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 earned, and since it stars Harry Potter himself, parents expected to be able to show it to their kids with Potter-like results and instead got ... something else. "The main gist of the complaints was that people felt it was too scary for a 12A," a BBFC spokesperson said. "People have a certain expectations about film...
