Daniel Radcliffe has opened up about his struggles with alcohol.

The Harry Potter star revealed that he is happy that he has achieved sobriety, insisting that his life is much less "chaotic".

"449 or so days ago - but who's counting? - was my last drink," Radcliffe told Total Film. "I just felt like I was chasing chaos and making my life difficult, all the time thinking I was having fun.

"So it feels very nice to not be putting myself in danger, to be waking up in the mornings and not thinking, 'Oh my god, who am I going to hear from? What did I do?' It's a life lived without dread and fear and it is lovely," he finished.

In July, the actor confessed that he had become too "reliant" on alcohol to "enjoy stuff", adding that he felt his relationship with his girlfriend had benefited due to his decision to quit.

Radcliffe recently revealed that he hopes to emulate Gary Oldman's acting career.

The 22-year-old can next be seen in The Woman in Black.
