Daniel Radcliffe to host 'SNL'

Daniel Radcliffe, known for playing the title role in the Harry Potter film series, has been signed on to host Saturday Night Live.

The actor will make his first appearance on the long-running NBC variety show Jan. 14. His hosting duties comes three weeks before his next film, the thriller The Woman in Black, appears in theaters. Lana Del Rey will be the musical guest for Radcliffes SNL outing. She will be making her debut performance on SNL with Radcliffe.

He will be the second SNL host for 2012, after former NBA star Charles Barkley, who will host Jan. 7 with Kelly Clarkson as the musical guest.

This will mark the third time Barkley has hosted the show. His previous stints were in the shows 19th and 35th seasons with Nirvana and Alicia Keys as the respective musical guests.

Since his retirement from basketball, Barkley has had a successful career as an NBA analyst.

The show is currently in its 37th season and has featured guest appearances from Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Fallon and Melissa McCarthy, among others.

Radcliffe was also praised for his work on the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

SNL airs Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m.
