'Mad Men's' Jared Harris to Star in U.K. Horror 'The Quiet Ones'

LONDON Jared Harris, one of the star turns in Mad Men, has signed up to star in The Quiet Ones, ahorror/thriller to be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2) from a script byTom DeVille.

Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and most recently Pogue have had a hand in script revisions for the movie which details the story inspired by true events -- of an unorthodox but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.

The movie marks the next film from British production banner Hammer Films, which recently broke local box office records with The Woman In Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe and has taken north of $120 million worldwide to date.

James Gay-Rees(Senna,Exit Through The Gift Shop) will produce in association with L.A. based banner The Traveling Pictures Show Company.

Hammer parent company Exclusive Medias president of worldwide production and acquisitions Tobin Armbrust will oversee production alongside director of development Shira Rockowitz.

Alex Walton, president of international sales and distribution will be selling the movie during the upcoming Marche du Film while TPSC Film's president Steven Chester Prince is a producer on the project for the newly formed independent film division of TPSC.

Currently in pre-production, the film is set to roll in the U.K. in June this year.

Exclusive Media vice chairman and Hammer president and CEO Simon Oakes and Guy East and Nigel Sinclair, co-chairmen of Exclusive Media, Hammers parent company, announced Harriss hire.

Harris recently starred in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and will next be seen in Steven Spielbergs Lincoln, currently in post-production.
