Daniel Radcliffe's the chest thing on TV

The British Harry Potter star has garnered rave reviews for his hosting stint on Saturday Night Live at the weekend.

Daniel was praised for his comic timing on the US show, not least when he portrayed a mullet-haired Target store assistant obsessed with building up his puny frame to win over a checkout girl.

Nervously chatting to the screechy-voiced object of his affection played by Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig Dan's alter-ego suddenly rips his shirt open to unveil the early effects of his gym workouts.

The actor, 22, also brought Harry Potter back to life in another sketch.

Stepping back into the bespectacled wizard's shoes ten years after graduating from Hogwarts, Harry bursts into the room to welcome the latest batch of newbie pupils.

It transpires that Harry has been hanging around the school, boasting about his past achievements to all who will listen, for the past decade.

Hermione, Ron, Hagrid and Professor Snape also make appearances.

Lana Del Rey was on hand to provide the live music, performing Video Games and Blue Jeans.

Although Daniel won plaudits for his performance, critics were less complimentary about the scripts he was given.

One commented: "Poor Daniel Radcliffe. He did everything right: great comic timing; cheerful, almost giddy participation.

"And yet, the episode was dreadful one of the worst so far this season. Radcliffe was obviously the victim of some terrible writing."
