Daniel Radcliffe - Daniel Radcliffe's Woman Refusal

Daniel Radcliffe did not watch 'The Woman in Black' stage show after he was cast in the film version because he didn't want it to influence his performance.

Daniel Radcliffe refused to watch the 'Woman in Black' stage production after landing a role in the film.

The 22-year-old actor - who shot to fame playing Harry Potter in the wizarding franchise from the age of 11 - stars as Arthur Kipps in the big screen adaptation of Susan Hill's novel but wouldn't go and see the play also based on the book in case it influenced his performance.

He said: "I spent most of my childhood on film sets and there was no way I was going to watch it once I got the part - I'm a terrible copycat actor.

"And yes, I read the book and met with Susan Hill. It's a wonderful story, a complete page turner."

Despite starring in the supernatural thriller, Daniel insists he isn't a fan of horror movies because he is easily scared.

He told the Independent newspaper: "I'm not really a horror fan. There's no way I could sit through something like 'Saw', it's too gory.

"I take fright easily. But something like 'The Shining', I think that's wonderful. And to my mind, this is a classic horror tale. Of course, it was really helpful that it was so different to 'Harry Potter' when I was looking for another direction."
