Call it Harry Potter and the Cold-Blooded Critics.
After hosting last weekends Saturday Night Live, Daniel Radcliffe is publicly coming to the defense of the episodes musical guest Lana Del Rey, whose performance has inspired the first Great Music Debate of 2012.
It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly, Radcliffe said to the British press of Del Rey, who sang Video Games and Blue Jeans on that fateful night.
I also think people are making it about things other than the performance, the actor continued. If you read what people are saying about her online, its all about her past and her family and stuff thats nobody elses business.
Added Radcliffe, I dont think it warranted anywhere near that reaction.
And some of the initial reactors are starting to agree. One noted Del Rey critic, Juliette Lewis, later came to the conclusion that, you know what, she doesnt dislike Lana as much as she thought she did, tweeting:
I woke up singing a @LanaDelRey song! Such great haunting melodies! Regardless of my own taste LIVE shes a #FreshandYummy songwriter.Period
If this sort of turnaround becomes more common among the singers early detractors, things might bode well for Lanas debut album Born to Die, slated to be released January 31.
